Introducing Splati

Hungary has always had a prominent place in the world of animation, not surprisingly as even young artists produce works of international standard. Three young designers now face a serious challenge, through their diploma work: producing an animated series.
Bootleg Splatypus stars Plati the ever-exploring platypus, who teleports to different worlds with the help of his aristocratic pair of wellies, the Wellington brothers. Beside the speaking pair, his trusty companion is Bolhabarát, the grumpy but kind-hearted flea, who travels with Plati under his hat in a luxury flat and helps him along the way.
The makers – Angi Gál, Viki Töttös and Balázs Turai – target 3-6 year olds, but under the surface reality based subjects appear allowing older generations to connect to the story. Each episode explores a different world, but describes various real life scenarios such as being a workaholic. Plati spends 24 hours at one given place, discovering and solving problems with the help of his friends and new acquaintances.
The diploma episode CubeCity is expected to be ready in the autumn, production and dubbing is in progress, characters are played by artists such as Gábor Csöre, Gergő Bogdán, József Kerekes and Miklós Kapácsi. English dubs are recorded in line with the ongoing works, as the concept of the series includes reaching international viewers.
