The rehabilitation of the industrial area once owned by Ganz Electric Works took place in 2001, in the framework of a series of events celebrating the country millenium. The concept for the park design was based therefore on the anniversary of the Hungarian state and nation’s establishment. Its most important message – creation – connects the past and the future. Creation is a result of the past and a condition for the future, and they together determine our present. The park is a spatial version of the creative process and visitors percieve the creative experience by walking through these spaces.
Dominika Tihanyi – public space designer
The role of public space art in urban rehabilitation – In the presentation, Dominika will talk about the “You are standing here” public space project and about the various elements of the action series designed for Budapest’s Palota district. All art projects taking place in an urban environment are interpretations of the relationship between the social and built environment. The spatial renditions of reflections on specific problems aim at contributing to a better living environment in the city and creating an alternative for outdoor communal programs.
Garten Studio – György Szloszjár – landscape architect
The role of the landscape architect within the design team in the case of Újbuda City Center (Allee and environs) – the presentation is about the design process: the design phases and complication levels of various project tasks, the context in which the aspects of landscape architecture are validated (investor – architect – traffic designer – interior designer – authorities – contractor). Looking at the project, spanning 3 years, we talk about fields in which we were free to create as landscape architects, as well as those restricted by countless technical, architectural and regulatory limitations.
4D táj – Andrea Balogh, Csaba Majoros – landscape architects
The uniquely large garden enveloping the National Museum is a green space wedged into the urban texture. The area, once on the border of the historical city center, is enclosed by a fence and communicates with its environement mostly with the sight of its old foliage. Our goal in re-designing the garden is a modern spatial arrangement while retaining the spirit of the historical site, creating a contemporary and flexible functions and the visualization of the time and spatial layering present in the relationship between the museum garden and the neighboring urban environment.
Kétfarkú Kutya Párt – Gergely Kovács – public space
Bird City in Miskolc – A storage for building materials with imported mud and Norwegian swallow saliva; a billboard for a soft drink called Puddle, containing 12% amoeba and a poster for the movie ‘Scarecrow’… The Bird City created in Miskolc is small enough to fit the crown of a tree, yet it is crammed with ideas of a genius enough for the Pécs 2010 project.
